9/18 morning rounds update

Sorry for the delay today, friends, but this couldn't get posted up til now.

Our friend Kat is doing well, and she's getting a little bit stronger everyday.  As promised, here is the update from her dad, Steve.

"Kate's in a recliner this morning, in the interest of improving lung function, and just generally mixing things up.  She coughs occasionally, but they consider that a good thing.  Mentally, she's about the same as yesterday, what they call "intermittently responsive".  The only thing that's keeping her in the ICU is the lack of consistent response.  The neurologist says that the issue is most likely getting her electrolytes back in balance, as she tends to be less responsive when sodium is low.  He doesn't think its a structural issue.  They did the chest x-ray, and that looked good - the lower left lobe is no longer collapsed, and the fluids are gone, but they will leave that tube in until after the MRI..."

The MRI is not scheduled yet, Steve says, so hopefully they can do that soon and get the tubes out of her if all is clear.

Thanks to everyone's interest in Kat's recovery.  Don't forget to check the Kindness for Kat Fb page for updates about fundraising events in Kats honor.

Kat, we love you. Stay strong and know that you have enormous love and support.

Kat's Story

Kat was injured in a motorcycle accident on September 12. She's been admitted into the iCU trauma unit at Christiana hospital in critical condition.

Kat is a wonderful woman. She is a devoted mom to her 14 year old son, Tyler. She has a wide array of interests, including motorcycles, tattoos, reggae music, hanging out with friends on the beach, fishing, hiking, being goofy with her friends and family, and taking killer selfies.

This page is dedicated to Kat, as she recovers from her injuries, and is a place for her friends and family to receive information on her progress.

We love you Kat, and we are all here for you as you recover.
