9/19 - morning rounds update

Well, it's been a week now, and Kat is progressing.  Steve texted the following update this afternoon.  Please see his words:

"Yesterday morning, in the recliner,  Kate was more active, attempting to get more comfortable, including moving her left arm, a first.  She also gave a firm grip upon request, and opened an eye for a bit.  The nurse regarded this as good, but also indicative of pain, and so gave her a dose of oxycodone, which put her back in a deeper sleep... she was pretty quiet in the evening. Last night, they finally did the MRI, and removed the chest tube.  The MRI results were good.  There was no ligament damage in her neck, and one of the carotid arteries had improved, so the neck brace will be removed.  In the interest of getting her consistently responsive, they'll take her off any narcotics (the oxycodone) and try to push her sodium even higher."

If you remember from yesterday, the doctors and nurses felt that Kat is more responsive when her electrolytes are in balance, so that's what Steve's last part of the text is about.

For those who are not aware, or who may have forgotten, there is a guest bartender event tomorrow at James Street Tavern.  The guest bartendersare some of Kat's closest friends, and will be donating all of the tips to Kat.  If you can, please come out, have a pint, toast to Kat and her recovery, and tip your bartenders well.

Thanks for following Kat's recovery.  It means so much to her family and close friends.

Kat, keep it up, Dear Friend.  Rest well, and we'll see you soon!  ❤️

Kat's Story

Kat was injured in a motorcycle accident on September 12. She's been admitted into the iCU trauma unit at Christiana hospital in critical condition.

Kat is a wonderful woman. She is a devoted mom to her 14 year old son, Tyler. She has a wide array of interests, including motorcycles, tattoos, reggae music, hanging out with friends on the beach, fishing, hiking, being goofy with her friends and family, and taking killer selfies.

This page is dedicated to Kat, as she recovers from her injuries, and is a place for her friends and family to receive information on her progress.

We love you Kat, and we are all here for you as you recover.
