" The summary is that she's progressed enough that they'll likely move her out of the ICU to the Transitional Unit (2B) tomorrow. After that, she'll go to rehab, so we're soliciting opinions on area rehab centers:
Wilmington Hospital
Bryn Mawr Rehab
Moss
3 others in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Middletown.
Any info would help. [either see Joyce and Steve at the hospital, or you can email me at mantani24@gmail.com, or find me at Facebook.com/gb041.]
If you haven't visited Kate lately when she's awake, the changes are very encouraging. She attempted to type on my phone. I think she understands everything that's being said, and can respond to a limited degree, a thumb's up, a wave, a hug, basically something she can do easily with her right hand. She's on her way back."
I personally saw Kat today, and she tried to look at pictures of last nights events on my phone. I told her all about how many people are following this blog, how much love and excitement there was in James Street Tavern last night, how much money was raised ($6,300 if you hadn't heard yet!), and told her that we're all rallying for her. I think she heard it. :)
Thanks for following this. We will keep you posted about a room change, if it occurs, and any other information.
Again, if you have feedback about rehab centers, please reach out.
Thanks everyone! Keep it up Kat.
That is awesome to hear we are praying and rooting for you Kat. I only got to know her for the small time her and my husband worked together but she always had a smile on her face and full of life.
ReplyDeleteI am a physical therapist and I can personally say Bryn Mawr Rehab is a great place and has some of the best therapist around. If she can get in there she should go this is what they specialize in. And then as she progresses she can move closer to this area to a less intense therapy but the early stages of therapy are going to be really important part of her recovery. I'll be Looking forward to all the updates and everyone keep showing her all the pics and telling her stories to keep her spirits high.
Hello. I don't believe I know the family personally, but I had a boyfriend who got hit by a car and suffered a very serious traumatic brain injury. We chose bryn mawr. They saved his life and have an amazing team. I would recommend them in a heart beat. If you have any questions message me.
ReplyDeleteI've never met Kat but we share a bond, sisterhood. I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier, but relieved you made the right choice (just read the post). Bryn Mawr is the BEST. The nurses are AMAZING, the therapists too. And the building is filled with all kinds of art, paintings, sculptures, etc. Take her for walks when you visit. Grab a wheelchair and go. There's a massive turtle in the pond on the grounds...big as a trash can lid, lol. I spent a little time there, yeah..
ReplyDeleteYou got this Kat. You're alive bc you have more to do :)
God bless.
